1364194 2014-01-03 10:42:00 Silly question but has the drive you are trying to install to from disk been formatted and partitioned correctly? I think it should be Mac OS extended plod (107)

1364196 2014-01-03 10:46:00 honestly I have no idea... :( In the OS X Base Sytem it says on the right, Mcintosh HD underneath that Superdrive underneath that MAC OS X Install DVD
Then it says Disk1
OS X Base System then again underneath there MAC OS X Install DVD, sorry that was the disc utility program

1364197 2014-01-03 10:52:00 I removed the DVD as this makes it confusing... so in the disc utility it says top left corner 1 TB ST31000528AS Media, underneath that MACintosh HD, in grey underneath there Superdrive and Disk2S3, underneath that:
DISK1
OS X Base System

1364198 2014-01-03 10:55:00 honestly I have no idea... :( In the OS X Base Sytem it says on the right, Mcintosh HD underneath that Superdrive underneath that MAC OS X Install DVD
Then it says Disk1
OS X Base System then again underneath there MAC OS X Install DVD, sorry that was the disc utility programI would go back into disk utility and repartion the drive and make sure it is Mac OS Extended (Journaled). then try and reinstall from the recovery disk. How old is the imac, if you dont know I can tell from the specs if you know them. If this fails I can upload a disk image of snow leopard and if the imac is new enough it should upgrade to mavericks for free.
