2013-12-27 20:52:00 | How can you activate it then if you cant get into XP? | Speedy Gonzales (78) | |
2013-12-27 21:51:00 | And that would be the problem Speedy ! After a restart I get the option of Win7 or Earlier Version and never had a problem getting into XP. When it goes to XP I'm able to logon but now I have this Activate XP ... no internet connection ... kicked in the backside then auto restart. This problem has only occurred in the last week and everything worked great before then.

2013-12-27 22:12:00 | Any thoughts on using system restore to an earlier time? | Bryan (147) | |
2013-12-27 22:26:00 | You dont need an internet connection to activate, when it cant find one it should give you options to activate by phone. Simply call MS on their toll free number provided, enter in 42 digits follow the voice prompts and away you go. | wainuitech (129) | |
2013-12-27 22:39:00 | Cheers Wainui ... too bloody obvious ! I'll let you know how I get on. There is no way of transferring programs from one HD to another is there ? ... I've tried a couple but had no luck. Some of them were from "Give away of the day" and very useful so want to retain them ... that's really the only reason I need to be able to boot into both HD's

2013-12-28 00:48:00 | Sweet -- sometimes the answers in front of a person and ya cant see the forest for the trees as the saying goes :D. ( we all have those moments ;) ) The programs from giveawayoftheday --- Depending on what they are sometimes you can download them from the original supplier and use the activation keys giveaway provide, other times narrrr :( What Ive done Sometimes, and its really hit and miss as to if it works or not, boot from the W7 OS, navigate to the programs folder on the XP drive, locate the program, locate the program Name.exe and double click it, sometimes it fires up perfectly (if it does, right click send to desktop/creat shortcut) , other times it may need to run as admin, other times it simply wont work -- Thems the breaks. :crying The other option is to make the XP into a Virtual Machine, then fire it up with a VM program. Some are free some you need to pay for. If you have W7 Pro, you can use XP mode. But thats another task for another time, (VM's).
