I'm very happy with my current Xtra broadband 30GB/month. Granted, my teenage children can blow that in a few days watching videos and movies online but then they can blow the family budget if we eat at KFC every night too. So we all adapt.

Besides, I have a 46" plasma so why would I or anyone want to watch a movie on a computer screen? Trust me, Breaking Bad and Game of Thrones are mega good on the big screen. :D

1342541 2013-05-22 11:24:00 Easier to get them off the internet, in 1080p, straight to your TV... Looks great on my 55" LED ;-) Chilling_Silence (9)
1342542 2013-05-22 11:30:00 @Winston001 - VDSL is basically a poor man's UFB (at the moment, not many people can get fibre) and will finally make it viable for me to back my PCs up to a Cloud service (like Backflip Solutions). The down speed is *almost* as good as fibre (if you're lucky) but the up speed can be up to 10 times faster than ADSL - a key item, along with larger caps that are also now available, for an online backup service. johcar (6283)

... actually AFAIK it's marginally more expensive than UFB, but at least it's available to the better part of the population.

Speeds up to 50mbps down (On the 8b profile) and 10mbps up.

My brother-in-law who's testing my ISP out is getting 44mbps quite happily... :D

ADSL's upstream rate of 1Mb/s is annoying.
