1363645 2013-12-26 10:42:00 and they didn't even have the decency to post a message about it on their website.

This happened this morning/afternoon (www.stuff.co.nz).

Nothing I tried with my PC would connect me to the internet. I visited Vodafone's home page, as I thought it may have been their issue.

What crap service!

Us customers are taken for and treated as suckers :(

1363646 2013-12-26 18:28:00 Eftpos was down for some retailers too.

I long ago dumped Vodafone for their bad service. And not outages either....

1363650 2013-12-26 21:49:00 Blimey , some people have short memories :)

Telecom /Xtra are no better, they go down all the time and often take days to sort out problems fully. Theres NOT ONE ISP in NZ that has a 100% uptime.

I notice NO ONE has said anything about the 148 eftpos transactions / Second on Christmas eve working perfectly.

Paymark figures show that on Christmas Eve, eftpos transactions hit an all-time high of 148 per second at 12.24pm as shoppers rushed to buy food and last-minute gifts.

1363651 2013-12-26 23:13:00 wai they couldn't have that Paymark go down.

And here's me thinking there were 250,000 poor kids in NZ before xmas, biggest spend-up on the cards this year toooo !.

Lurking.

No kidding, no internet so you couldn't browse the internet  OK if a person has some other form of connecting like 3/4G.

One thing about ALL the ISP's is their stupid messages along the lines of "visit our web" page at www. {insert page} to get answers for many known problems -- Well hellooooo Cant get on the internet so cant look

Personally I've had real good service from Telstra/Vodafone lately, just a couple of minor things but they sorted it really quick.

1363653 2013-12-26 23:39:00 Yup VF / TC broadband was fine here. Dont know about their mobile service, I'm not with them for mobile. If I do have probs with it, I'll tell them on FB. Saves me ringing them Speedy Gonzales (78)
1363654 2013-12-27 00:43:00 With broadband I've been told that there is a backup dialup should BB go down. Do businesses have that as a backup?

While telco's should have backups, individuals/retailers should also consider that right if their activities are important. Yeah .. 3G is an option when required cannot they just SMS for a pack and away they go .... if the EFTPOS is compatible with DSL and mobile data ..... or use something like the BNZ system.
