| 243459 | 2004-06-11 04:18:00 | My DSL-500 came with a serial cable to plug into the console port on it and a COM port on your PC. If you have got one look here (support.dlink.com) to see how to find out what the username and password are. |

Nope, no pin hole - my ISP guy suggested that > > Again with the Dynalink the default url to access the router is > > http://192.168.1.1, there should be something similar for yours. I tried that IP as well as a couple of similar ones > I've got a DSL-500. I'm sure you're right > Have you got a serial cable handy? Nope - I assume something could be done if I did, via the spare port on back of the router |

Thanks - that could be the answer - I'll go back to the customer to see if she has the cable |

| 243463 | 2004-06-11 04:27:00 | Just go to www.dlink.com then Tech support then put in DSL and 500 in the drop boxes and click go! At the bottom of the page there are 3 FAQS - Read the first one. |

"wedor Distinguished Member Join Date: Nov 1999 Location: Wisconsin Posts: 3,880 Here's a bit from D-Link on that router, "The DSL-504 cannot be reset to factory defaults unless you are able to access the configuration. If you forgot the password and cannot log into the configuration of the unit you will need to return it through your ISP. " That comes from here (forums.techguy.org) |

Lo and behold, it worked! Huge thanks man! My customer didn't have the cable but I mucked around in my spare parts drawer and with a bit of creative cabling I made a serial connection. Cheerz! |
