2004-06-11 03:24:00 | Over the last few weeks,this compu that I borrow and hopefully have not buggered keeps keeps delivering the messages that I have posted in that time. The latest is this one. The host 'pop3.@xtra.co.nz' could not be found. Please verify that you have entered the server name correctly. Account: 'pop3.xtra.co.nz', Server: 'pop3.@xtra.co.nz', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 11004, Error Number: 0x800CCC0D It is all very well keep fixing with the brilliant help of Jim and G_F,but what is causing this to happen? I have run viurus do dad ad aware plus spybot. Something is afoot and I know not what.

2004-06-11 03:42:00 | Just be clear on what I have typed in to incomingmail[pop3] pop3.@xtra.co.nz

2004-06-11 04:05:00 | I strongly suspect the @ should not be there. ;=) What you have typed is an email address (of "pop.") , not a "fully qualified domain name" which is the Internet address for a server. | Graham L (2) | |
2004-06-11 04:14:00 | that's correct it should be pop3.xtra.co.nz and smtp.xtra.co.nz ........no @ symbol......also I notice that you have the account name as pop3.xtra.co.nz that's wrong too.......if for example your username is bobsmith@xtra.co.nz then the account name is bobsmith....... | drcspy (146) | |
2004-06-11 04:53:00 | Agreed. I did the same thing about 2 days ago. Easy mistake unless you set up POP3 accounts often. | Winston001 (3612) | |
2004-06-12 05:57:00 | Thank you chaps,you were so right and all is well. Why though does it keep getting out of faze?
Young Tom (5503) | ||
2004-06-12 06:03:00 | Usually virus scanners change the settings so they can scan POP3 mail as it's downloaded. Though that looks like user error, rather than a virus scanner changing it.
