243999 2004-06-13 05:44:00 I was looking on google, and heard them talkinag about them on TechTV. What exactly are Groups? Tribomb (5547)
244000 2004-06-13 05:47:00 in what context?

In my experience (related to computeing), groups are are the term given to, a group of users with the same access and sharing permissions, or the same policies - for networking.

244001 2004-06-13 05:51:00 Growly, he is referring to the options on Google (Web - Images - Groups) I think.

If so, the explanation is here (www.google.co.nz)

244004 2004-06-13 06:00:00 Just one more thing, how do I make one? And if I do will people be able to read it, what I mean is will it be like a fourm thread, put at the top a list of groups where people can see it? Tribomb (5547)
244005 2004-06-13 06:05:00 You are not thinking of Google Groups (www.google.com) are you?

This is a huge collection of groups sorted according to interests/subject matter etc that you can join and discuss whatever that is relevant. Eg, this is one group (of many) on computer graphics (groups.google.com), and this is message that can be found under the group subcategory of rec/food/recipes Recipes (groups.google.com) - yummy as well! :D

So bascially you can search for a group that interests you, and then look for any subgroups within that by entering in search terms for your interests.

Google has a Group Help (groups.google.com) section which should answer your questions.

This is of course, if this was the sort of "group" you were asking about. :)

244007 2004-06-13 06:09:00 Try using Google for your answers, this is well covered

Creating a UseNet Group is explained here (www.cs.uu.nl)

There are so many groups now, its difficult to believe you would need another though.

Its a strict process, and has to be voted on by a select group.

244008 2004-06-14 03:39:00 There used to be much relaxed requirements for creating alt. groups. That probably still applies. But indeed, why bother? There are tens of thousands of newsgroups. Graham L (2)
