244171 2004-06-17 03:19:00 my $0.02 :

We all slip up sometime, you must be rather oversensitive to be offended by a short *polite* reply in capitals

If their attitude was rude, then you have a right to be offended. I would not be offended by something like this.

If i was answering 50 or so mails a day, i would try and make them as sort and to the point as possible. If the caps lock was accidently left on, and i typed a sentence in capitals, as long as i was polite ("thankyou") it might not be worth typing it again..

I think you're overreactiing to this, and the reply that you sent, intending to be annoying, portrays you at fault.

I would *hardly* describe the reply as *nasty*

244172 2004-06-17 03:49:00 Writing is caps is a clear sign that you want someone to know your agitated,Its poor service, and why would anyone reward or defend poor service?

Would you still ignore it if they were curt or short over the phone?

244173 2004-06-17 03:57:00 >>Colloquial humour eludes me...

Surely it can only be that everyone is desperate for company of any sort to have commented at all on such an inane, nay vacuous post.!!

244174 2004-06-17 04:06:00 .....I couldn't resist.....

I know Growly just wanted this one to go away but it has gone on and on and yes I have read the whole thing but it's just re-started so I thought I'd throw in my thoughts too.

I'm with you Will and Tom - this is waste of a post that won't go away, and Growly read too much into it. All in all a waste of time and space.

However (my 2 cents), Growly's original complaint about their curt response was a case of the "pot calling the kettle black" - Growly set the tone with a short e-mail (pleasantries aside) and they responded in kind. No big deal.

As for the caps, yes the rep was probably irked or forgetful but have you ever heard of a $10 customer? Sometimes its cheaper to give the customer $10 to go away....

....but it's just my opinion.

244175 2004-06-17 04:09:00 Some neebs aren't aware of the meaning.

If someone cut youoff on a phone, it is an undisputed matter.

I've had lots of incidents with salespeople far worse then this, that still weren't out right nasty.

It depends on whether they acually were intending to offend (which from the tone of the note, i doubt) or whether they were just rushing.

244176 2004-06-17 04:53:00 I agree with Tom. I certainly won't be commenting.

244177 2004-06-17 05:49:00 "Growly and the motherboard saga"... I like it.

In the end of the day I felt offended - it wasn't a big thing. I merely wanted to exaggerate it - in which i clearly succeeded - but you all took it too far (Ok I read into it too much)... but if we drop it, then lagbort's life won't be twisted because this post strikes him in the face whenever he comes here :D (THAT WAS A JOKE - DON'T BOTHER REPLYING TO THE CONTRARY)

I still don't have my precious motherboard (which I've now named Shiela, like my graphics calculator- which came two days after being payed for...) - and there is no way I'm buying it from them....

but yes it should be sticky, under "what not to post".

*Sigh* It looks like the Asus A7N8X-E Deluxe for me...
