244117 2004-06-14 07:12:00 This thread has got me thinking

Who decided that writing in CAPS was deemed shouting? Where did this rather "quaint" idea come from? I was under the impression it was just a MSN/ICQ thang

And Growly . . . . . . . . Starting an email with "Hey!" is very rude . Do an experiment . Go into a shop, stand a distance away from a shop assistant and say "Hey" to gain their attention . More than likely you will be ignored or served last .

To be insulted because you got a reply to your email written in CAPS is rather imature

244118 2004-06-14 07:23:00 On the contrare Baldy, it is a commonly known fact that WRITING IN CAPS IS DEEMED SHOUTING AND OFFENSIVE. This "quaint thang" has been around for years, and I knew of it about 7 years ago before I even had the internet, or had used it!

As for starting and email with Hey, that's how I greet most of my friends, as well as getting greeted in this way by most customers who come into the CyberCafe.

"Hey, I just want to do some printing please"
*I get up and walk to the front of the shop, "Sure, just take a seat".

It may be immature to take it so personally, but being offended by somebody shouting at you is not.

All in all, Growly, you could have got your information in one or two emails, and the last email made you no better than the sales rep you're talking about.

Who really cares, its not sucking the life out of you is it Growly? Take it with a grain of salt and move on would be my advice ;-)

Chill.

HEY, IS THE SAME AS HI. BASICALLY NO DIFFERENCE AND SURELY NOT OFFENSIVE. YOU MUST BE SO OLD YOU'RE OUT OF TOUCH WITH EVERYTHING AROUND YOU. THE WORLD HAS MOVED ON. EMAIL IS AN INFORMAL COMMUNICATION STANDARD. DO YOU EXPECT SOMEONE TO START GOING "DEAR" AND FINISH WITH "YOURS SINCERELY" IN EVERY EMAIL? NO, GET REAL.

Ok you get the picture.
