245503 2004-06-17 06:22:00 What is the point of setting a category for your post, if everything is just lumped together in one forum ?

Why does PC world use just an efficiant system for their forums ?

Something PHP based would be a hell of an improvement, then this current stew pot.

Take a look at http://forums.overclockers.co.nz for an example of how well dividing posts into topic forums actually works!

245504 2004-06-17 06:28:00 and why would they spend money on vBullitan when they could get the superior phpBB (http://www.phpbb.com)? Megaman (344)
245505 2004-06-17 06:34:00 If you do a search Will, you will see this topic has come up many times before. Basically, rather than dividing the forum up into topics, it was decided that the current format/style works well enough and it is easy to see all posts without having to hunt through various topics. It is also less work for the IDG/mods as they don't have to go around fixing posts which end up under the wrong topic which will happen quite a bit I imagine. :)

I like it as it is. :D

Oops - forgot to add ...

The category selection you have to use when making a new post, is left-over from a feature that wasn't implemented when this new version of PF1 went live. It doesn't matter what you tick as long as something is selected.

245507 2004-06-17 06:42:00 yes, PhpBB is great..

I think it would be easier for people to help, ask if topics were divided, but anyway, sorry to start up a repeat post.

245508 2004-06-17 08:50:00 The beauty of our forum Will,is we don't have to keep clicking all over the place to find out what's going on,it's all there on one page. It's good not doing things the same as every other forum,Makes us kinda unique I reckon.
I get rather bored on other forums I belong to,having to go from one section to another,to find out what's happening.

245509 2004-06-17 09:11:00 I personally like the way these forums are... there aren't too many users so we don't have to go on great escapades to find any new posts. Growly (6)
