244975 2004-06-16 01:35:00 Someone pushed the "Off" button on my XP computer and it ran ScanDisk on starting up again. Scandisk reported bad sectors on my hard drive, but I have been unable to reproduce the report to find out whether the hard drive on my 2 1/2 year old PC is failing.

I have tried Start | Run | chkdsk c: but text flashes past and the window closes before I can read the results of the scan. Is it possible to view a log file or disk properties so I can track whether the bad sectors are increasing?

In Win95 (I think) you could display properties for a hard drive which showed good/bad sectors. How do I do this in XP?

From the Run window, type "command"

That will give you a command window, where you can type chkdsk c: from, and that window will persist on the completion of chkdsk until you close it.

Or you could do for a search for *.log
