245870 2004-06-19 02:09:00 Hi there, i was given a challenging task, a quiz. I have drawn a picture to show you.

sal.neoburn.net

The rules are... Every house has to have Water (w) Gas (g) electricity (e)

The lines from each cannot cross. You cannot go between the houses (ie from h1 to h2) each has to get water/gas/electric from each commodity.

245871 2004-06-19 02:20:00 is this one of those lateral thinking ones?

can we re arrange the houses and commodities?

can we dig holes in the ground?

245872 2004-06-19 02:24:00 Can we connect commodities? Can they merge companies? Growly (6)
245873 2004-06-19 02:27:00 Needs to be done in three dimensions, as you can't using two-D as there can only be a maximum of eight lines (or curves) before the final 9th line has to cross one other. There is always one house missing a commodity :p

Going over or under with 3D solves this :D

245874 2004-06-19 02:27:00 Grrrrr- always that last connection.... Growly (6)
245875 2004-06-19 02:30:00 Exactly Jen - I built a bridge in my attempt :D Growly (6)
245876 2004-06-19 02:33:00 Convert the houses to solar power Shaun Minfie (2961)
245877 2004-06-19 02:36:00 If the answer to this 2D quiz is to do it in 3D then this is officially the worst quiz ever.

Obviulsy there is a key stratergy needed if if the job is possible,i doubt the answer is to modify the paremeters of the question.

245878 2004-06-19 02:38:00 No, the answer is not modifying the question, it is building on parameters the question never defined.

He said they shouldnt cross - he didn't say that we couldnt flip the picture around, look from a different angle, and build some sort of bridge :D
