245679 2004-06-18 07:51:00 I've got a work laptop i want to connect to my pc with a crossover cable. The laptop belongs to a domain and the pc belongs to a workgroup (both running xp pro).
I have read all the info i can find and i understand the problem so this is my question.
Is there any good free software that will let me switch network setting with a quick click. I also read something about the possibility of windows having some profile thing that i could use to similar effect

You might want to look at a Proxy, but I'm sure there is an easier way. Laptops are made for moving around. Why can't you add the laptop to your workgroup set the file shares, permissions, etc.

245682 2004-06-18 10:45:00 I could but it would stuff my work settings or at least be inconvinient, im now looking for some toshiba software that was bundeled with laptops shortly after this model its called config free and apparently I can download it somewhere on a toshiba website buts its proving impossible to find. Toshiba links lead to blank pages and their search engines go no where as well :( Hershyll (1175)
245683 2004-06-18 15:07:00 I think you only have to change the PC's setting not the laptop's Have a look at Windows Shares (snakefoot.fateback.com)

Set up a domain on the home PC if all else fails.

Config free will certinally do what you what, plus some, BUT it is hardware specific ie it only works on certain models AS to where you get it give the laptop company a call there are the Corporate Distrubitors for Toshiba
BTW config free will not work on domestic range of latops only the corporate range
