245686 2004-06-18 07:48:00 Windows Installer

msiexec.exe

245687 2004-06-18 10:05:00 Do a search on the Microsoft Knowledge base, Microsoft Installer windows 98. There is a utility for fixing the msi and help on registering .dll files if that is the problem.

Post back if you get stuck.

245688 2004-06-18 10:08:00 A Link (pressf1.pcworld.co.nz) to another thread with links to MS KB msi. Different OS so find your flavour if it's different too.

245689 2004-06-18 10:15:00 Two versions of the installer exist, depending on which operating system you have; InstMsiA.exe for Windows 9x and InstMsiW.exe for Windows NT 4 and 2000. Windows XP already contains the windows installer.

Windows Installer 2.0 for Windows 95, 98, and Me can be downloaded from:

245691 2004-06-18 13:10:00 The link works here (www.microsoft.com) godfather (25)
245692 2004-06-18 13:27:00 You might want to make sure it isn't there because I believe if you just try to install another one over the top you can end out with more ( . dll) trouble . I'm sure there is a tool from MS for verifiying and fixing . I have had reason to replace the windows installer before but must have deleted the tools and . txt files I used, mine may not have been exactly the same issue though and it was on win2k not 98 . if I remember correctly I got them from the developers/admin's download section of MS

Have a good read of those articles and see how you get on .
