245475 2004-06-17 13:02:00 Munich (www.usatoday.com) has finally decided to convert to Linux after the trial of a year or so mikebartnz (21)
245476 2004-06-17 13:12:00 The last paragraph could go in to another thread (pressf1.pcworld.co.nz) not so far from here. ;)

245477 2004-06-17 13:18:00 can any one explane how MS thinks the TCO of linux is more than the TCO of windows???

I can see how they can put it down due to the cost of switching but that is only a small part of the TCO.

245478 2004-06-17 13:22:00 Im afraid you need to work for MS to understand their logic.

Their motives are quite clear though.

245480 2004-06-17 14:19:00 I would like to know where the suing is going to take place and what the grounds are. I don't think the big stick will make the slightest bit of difference. If anything it will work to the detriment of MS. mikebartnz (21)

The jury is still out on this one. MS commissions a company to do a study and as MS has paid them thousands and thousands of dosh, they come out as favouring MS. As they say, lies, damned lies and statistics.

I think for every company that believes the TOC of Linux is more expensive than MS products, there is another one that has really saved themselves money.

245483 2004-06-17 23:26:00 I was reading one the other night. I think a Canadian Hospital. Where they went with Linux servers with Linux thin clients and they reckon their savings in their first year will be greater than the 37% predicted. mikebartnz (21)
245484 2004-06-18 01:37:00 WTF!!!!

how can you sue a person who decides not to use your product???
