Headphones seem to work ok?

The reason I asked is because sometimes I run a cable from my PC to my stereo, and usually use the 3 . 5mm jack on the side of the speaker because it's closer to the stereo and I don't have much cable length .

If I set it up so I can plug it straight into my soundcard, would I get better sound quality? Somebody said:
