246642 2004-06-21 12:15:00 My Gigabyte GA-8KNXP motherboard is fitted with Corsair TwinX Dual Channel Memory kit (2-sticks) of 2x256MB, DDR-SDR.

At Startup the Memory is displayed as only 125MB.

Why can this be?

246643 2004-06-21 12:40:00 could be bad ram
could be bad motherboard

could be the ram is not seated right, remove it and re-insert it.

Check the ram setting in your BIOS. If that fails try swapping the sticks around in the slots.

www.lavalys.com

Look at motherboard and all sub folders, plus diagnostics that are produced.

Are you sure that it is system RAM that you are seeing as 125Mb, or is it Video RAM. Worth checking. ;)

Sounds like Video Card Ram is being displayed. This is the first things that shows up with the card description.
The MB Ram will not show up unless the POST memory test is on in BIOS.

246648 2004-06-22 06:59:00 Thanks Guys

I tried the My Computer>Properties and it stated "512MB of RAM" .

I think you are correct about the Video card info being displayed as it does have 128MB DDR .

That has settled my mind, thanks again .

Peter .
