246496 2004-06-21 03:57:00 Howdy,

This is about my mother's computer, have XP pro, and the only browser is IE 6.0, norton antivirus, personal firewall...

1) window updates doesn't works.

2) going thru hotmail, after sign in, it says Web Brower software limitations (You are using a web browser that Hotmail does not support.*blah blah*, next it says We recommend that you upgrade your web browsing software and invite you to download Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.

Anyway, what i did, is to download the AVG free version and plus updated it, it found 3 virus called Keenval.J, Keenval.C and Keenval.B... all is removed, and turn off system restore reboot, and turn back on system restore after rebooting, done another AVG scan and it's shows clear.

Any suggestions? I thought of repairing IE, but will wait and see to find out more infos first.

Yes, that is to remove the trojan... but still the IE is weird, I dunno if an person have similar IE problems as my mother's computer...

Another thing i went to those shield up site grc.com, look thru the browser's header.

Under User-Agent it comes up: User-Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1; NET CLR 1.1.4322

Does that supposed to be show up for an IE only browser?

246499 2004-06-21 05:03:00 Yep that's normal. Run Spybot and Adware on the PC. If still no go then repair IE. Have you got IE 6 as PC World CD has it on it. Berryb (654)

246504 2004-06-21 07:30:00 Perhaps you should download and install latest IE which may have patches that your ver 6 doesn't have Greg S (201)
