| 246333 | 2004-06-20 13:55:00 | Lately i have two CD rom drives (a 52x and a 40x) that wont read discs. ive tried using two different computers and both drives wont work. i tried to update the firmware on the 52x but to no avail. both dont read CDR's or many other discs for that matter. The 40x was made in 2000, the 52x from 2002. does anyone know whats wrong? |

What motherboard/s have you tried them on, when did they last work, have you installed latest drivers, what operating system, have you tried different cables, are other drives working from the same cables etc | Greg S (201) | ||

All that is needed is power to them and headphones plugged in the front (as mentioned in recent posts). If they wont play audio then they are definitely kaput. These things dont last forever. Alternatively they may need their optics cleaning. |
