246816 2004-06-22 10:29:00 I recently had a problem loading MS Word which I tracked down (thanks to a Press F1 post) to being a corrupted normal.dot file (file size was over 300 kb). I deleted the file and replaced it with a backup one I had saved in another folder. Since then, whenever I close Word, I get a message saying "Word cannot save changes to the global template because it was opened with read-only access. Do you want to save the changes in a template with a different name?" I have checked my new normal.dot file and it is not saved as read-only. I have saved the supposed changes in a new template with a dummy name and still get the message coming up. I am running Win ME and Word 2000 and would appreciate any suggestions to fix this.
