246794 2004-06-22 09:10:00 Is anyone else suffering loss of service with Paradise at the moment? For the last week (intermittently) I can dial up, it says I'm connected, but nothing happens! I can't connect to the web. If i hang up and dial up my Xtra account, I connect straight away and have no problems. I have emailed Paradise and they have promised to get back to me within 4 days (great!). Just wondered if it was just me, or them in general. I'm very tempted to get jetstream at this time! andy (473)
246795 2004-06-22 09:18:00 No bother for me but I'm not on dialup. The 4 days is just an auto reply. Go to the Paradise or Teltra Clear web sites and look up network or server status.

Last week Xtra got hit hard by the latest email worm doing the rounds then, it was Paradise's turn later in the week. Could be a hang ocver from that. In those situations your not immune where ever you are.

246796 2004-06-22 09:25:00 I am down near Christchurch, on dial up, and online every night, without hassles. It seems to stall some nights, but that could just be my phone lines. I can always go somewhere online, never stalls completely. supergran (108)
246797 2004-06-22 09:37:00 perhaps related to this is my connection speed, which has in the last week or so nose-dived. I use dial-up and have been getting a lot of engaged results. It has taken two or three attempts to get a connection and this has often been at a paltry 21-22 Kbps but at least once at only 19! Right now its only 33.2.... to many customers? to few modems? 246798 2004-06-22 11:52:00 the connection speed is related to "noise" on your phone line

as for other problems i would ring your ISP..

That "number" has no real relevance to your true upload/download speed, contrary to popular belief.

If it's sudden, chances are it's localised - noticed any cable guys up your street or roadworks or anything?

246800 2004-06-22 12:05:00 Yep - same thing here. In XP everything looks like it's connected but it ain't. Can't browse in IE or d/l email. A reboot usually fixes something but I know not what.

No, no viruses or spyware.

I'm with Paradise on 56k dialup, external Dynalink Voice/Fax/Data modem.

246801 2004-06-22 12:12:00 Ok, can't see a re-boot doing anything to line quality or the ISP's servers, etc . Does powering off/on the modem do the same thing?

You might need to look a little closer to home .

One other thing about phone lines . They are usually at their worst in the dark dank depth of winter due to moisture getting into less than perfect connections .

246802 2004-06-22 21:36:00 Early this year Paradise started to decline. I'm in Masterton and a couple of months ago it was impossible to get online in the evenings. It is better now but still slow. Last month I joined iHug and opted for the extra Propel Accelerator, and it is so much better than Paradise. I have been with Paradise for 3 or 4 years and it used to be great. Steve_L (763)
246803 2004-06-22 22:15:00 I'm on Paradise 56k when I first connect to the net The connection is non-responsive until I disconnect and re-connect then everything is fine I have a friend who has exactly the same problem
