247457 2004-06-24 23:48:00 I have Canon S6300. It is A3 printer. It is said that use of cheaper refills shorten head lifespan. A new head would cost about $270, while 4 Canon cartridges about $100. Calidad refill set about $40. It can save $60. Result-if the head will survive more then 5 refills, then it would make sens to take risk of replacing the head.

Any opinions?

247458 2004-06-25 00:45:00 The other factor is one of quality of printout .

In almost all cases I have seen, print quality suffers with refills .

In a commercial sense, I cannot tolerate the quality loss, so thats the deciding factor for me .

Your mileage may vary .

if you just want cheeper ink then go for it, if you want good quality prints then stick with the canon ink.

BTW its canon who say that "cheaper refills shorten head lifespan", they say this is make you use the $100 ink :-)

i would think that you should get many more then 5 refills before you have print head problems.
