247100 2004-06-23 10:12:00 System information:
Processor ~ GenuineIntel Family 15 Model 1 1.7

BIOS ~ ASUS - 42302e31 Award Medallion BIOS v6.0 Award Plug and Play BIOS Extension

System ~ Windows XP Home Edition Version 2002 Service pack 1.

History ~ PC kept crashing a couple of months back. In desperation I reinstalled Win XP. Worked fine except sound stopped working. Unable to get working, but hey it stopped crashing.
Disabled Onboard MIDI I/O and PCI Onboard AC97 Audio Controller on BIOS then Installed sound card “C-Media 8738 4 Channel Sound Card”
System recognised new hardware but would not install the supplied Audio Driver. Message “The parameter is incorrect”
Down loaded up to date driver from net would not install. Same message received.

Have tried resetting BIOS in various combinations without success.
