| 247847 | 2004-06-27 04:08:00 | I just put a NTFS HDD into my computer running XP Pro (which already has an NTFS disk installed). I can see the second disk in Disk Management, but cannot assign a drive letter (the option is greyed out), so I can't access the data on the disk. Is there any way I could possibly access that data? Thanks, Mike. |

I should also probably note, this other drive used to be a boot drive with Windows XP Pro installed, not just a NTFS formatted disk. If that makes any difference :) Mike. |

Aha! Nevermind, I found the problem :^O I had installed a third-party boot loader and had ticked an option that said "hide other partitions" or something to that effect, and turning that off made it accessible in XP :D Cheers, Mike. |

It seems odd that I could see the drive in Disk Management, but couldn't access it (I could delete the partition, but couldn't do anything else with it). Once I unhid the partitions using the boot-loader, everything worked fine. Mike. |
