247795 2004-06-26 11:22:00 Right the motherboard came (Asus A7N8X-E Deluxe). Amazing motherboard.

Put my two SATA hard disks in, and after it failed to repair the old operating system (by installing drivers for this motherboard's SATA chip), I had to wipe and start all over again (losing nearly everything) - but now strange things are happening.

1) Windows keeps randomly crashing.

2) I can't make shortcuts to websites: When i double click, it tells me that it doesn't have a clue where they are and then loads them.

3) The nVidia nForce chipset's "nvmixer" program has stopped working as it did when first installed... (to be specific, the specturm analyser no longer analyses microphone input)

4) USB controller drivers not installed. This is probably becuase they are USB 2 and i didn't install service pack one untill afterwards... but there are so many drivers that I really don't know which one to load.

For example, from nvidia alone, I have nVmixer software, nForce chipset drivers, nForce ethernet drivers, MX 420 Video drivers, all in one drivers, etc etc.

5) A worrying thing I just discovered; my HDDs have different firmware versions...

Anyway the point is....

Are these problems to be attributed to poor installation? Corrupted files? Misconfigured / crap SATA chipsets? Old drivers?

712415) Clicking on windows no longer brings them to the front. (Or on top of other windows)

247797 2004-06-26 13:38:00 I would have thought that when you installed your OS that it would have installed everything automatically

When I installed XP it did anyways
