1364695 2014-01-08 18:34:00 Not really computer but, I'm after a converter from HDMI to RCA sockets an adapter like.
IE my Freeview box doesn't have HDMI and TV has HDMI input.
So wanting to connect my RCA output plugs to a HDMI input.
Thanks for any info.

1364696 2014-01-08 19:55:00 apparently they do exist...
www.ebay.com

No idea how/if they actually work given RCA/Component video is analog and HDMI is digital. The signal needs to be converted somewhere along the line.

A better bet would be something like this (www.amazon.com).

Surely your TV has component or RCA inputs???

1364697 2014-01-08 20:12:00 Honestly the cheapest option is probably to replace the freeview box with one that does have HDMI, the two signals are incompatible and a converter will likely cost as much as a new freeview box.

Unusual for a TV not to have some other option than HDMI, you're sure there isn't another input somewhere? To get HD you need to use component (3xRCA)or HDMI, the standard yellow composite video connector I'm pretty sure only does SD. On my TV the component video in also functions as a composite video in but it's not immediately obvious, you just use the first connector and it auto detects.

1364698 2014-01-08 20:24:00 Somewhere like Jaycar will have the relevant converter device available, but expect it to be somewhere in the $100 - $150 region. inphinity (7274)

That site at $21.39 is a lot cheaper? than a NZ one I found later at $60

1364700 2014-01-08 21:00:00 Thats true.
I did find one, in NZ, but was $60.00
I'm sure a UHF would be cheaper, as don't really like satellite.

1364701 2014-01-08 21:25:00 If it has the right input but it's in use you could just get a switch to let you connect both. dugimodo (138)

Problem is TV has 2 Rca's and 2 HDMI and I'm using both RCA's and one HDMI.

From what I hear, now, is possible but need a converter thingee and that's not cheap.

1364703 2014-01-08 23:10:00 What i meant was get an RCA video switch - commonly available for just such an application. I have one at home somewhere from a previous setup. dugimodo (138)

Yes, I know what you mean.
I've got one connected on an other Telly in the house, with Freeview, VCR and DVD player attached.
Thinking that a lot cheaper than the HDMI route.
Thank you :)
