2014-01-06 23:17:00 | Looked at this system couple of years ago. Was locking up. Managed to get into safe mode & uninstall a veriety of toolbars & other dodgy stuff. Been running ok till now. Win xp home This time it gets to starting windows, then BS's Page_fault_In_Nonpaged_area Stop: 0x00000050 (0x877EE008, 0x00000001, 0x80544803, 0x00000000) Thats the first stop error I got, it varies each time. Couldn't get into safe mode or last known good. In the setup/bios, the Dell system diagnostic showed the HDD as faulty (WD1600AAJS) I then booted the system from a linux disc & was able to view the files on the HDD. So the rest of the hardware appears to be ok. Booted from ultimate boot disc & checked the HDD form there & it passed the diognostic test. Booted from Dell reinstallation disc & ran chkdsk. Passed ok then BS'd again. Didn't appear too dusty inside, but gave it a blow out & reseated the ram, cards, conections etc anyway. Rebooted from Dell cd & tried the repair option, (can't copy the file discopy.dll) Tried running sfc from cmd but dosent seem to recognize that command. Tryed several different variations. Have pulled the HDD & run the WD LifeGuard Diagnotics on it. Passed the quick & extended tests. Where to from here??????

2014-01-07 01:01:00 | Could be faulty RAM, have you run Memtest through it ? Just because A live CD runs doesn't always mean the memory cant have a fault / Failure. If its got more than one stick of memory, remove one,, and try starting, if it still does it, put that one back and remove the other. Malware and other infections can also cause that error in XP, as well as a bad driver or software.

2014-01-07 01:40:00 | You may be right about the Ram. It had 4x 256 sticks. May run memtest on them later, takes so long. For now have pulled all of them & put in 1x 512 stick of known good (all I had atm) It will now boot to desktop without BS ing. Currently raking through all the muck. msconfig wouldn't load & firewall was turned off.

To test put in one at a time and test, if you're lucky you'll hit the faulty one first go :p its a 1 in 4 shot :) |

2014-01-07 03:00:00 | Thats only part of the problem. msconfig wont load. Installed ccleaner to remove the unessesary startup items. Windows firewall is turned off. A paid ver of McAfee is installed which I assume has it's own firewall. Currently running a quick scan with that. Have run Mbam & SuperAntispyware. But can't get it online to update those programes. Would like to run sfc but its asking for a different version of xp cd.

2014-01-07 03:44:00 | yep McAfee willhave its own firewall -- the ultimate  Blocks all internet access so you cant do any harm LOL. On a working PC, download and then try these, use the download Now @ Bleeping computer blue button: adwcleaner (www.bleepingcomputer.com) while on that page scroll down and get junkware Removal Tool, as well as roguekiller (www.bleepingcomputer.com) Top blue download button from Authors site, since doing a clean out, may as well run hitmanpro (www.surfright.nl) What you "may" Also find if there are any infections or corrupted files McAfee may be corrupted, thus blocking the internet, you May have to remove it, use Revo in advanced Mode. THE HJ log doesn't show any nasties, but then again HJ doesn't always pick them up either, some of the little blighters hide really good :)

2014-01-07 03:51:00 | I would remove Mcafee, it's a known cause of crashes. I would remove AVG secure search too R3 - URLSearchHook: (no name) - *{CFBFAE00-17A6-11D0-99CB-00C04FD64497} - (no file) O2 - BHO: (no name) - {95B7759C-8C7F-4BF1-B163-73684A933233} - (no file) O3 - Toolbar: (no name) - {95B7759C-8C7F-4BF1-B163-73684A933233} - (no file)
