1344675 2013-06-04 07:00:00 I have just been looking at offline maps for my Android handset. Are there any of you guys who cache/download satellite images?

I find that maybe specific interest they are of use but for general travelling they take up a lot of disk space and needs to cache/download diff segments. I find that it wasn't something that I could just download the entire country before I set off but something I had to do every day or so and knowing where I would be that day. The downloading was quite slow too cos it was gathering tens of thousands of map tiles. Might prefer a standard 2D street map. But by all means if I had access to a local simcard Google Maps would be the best :D

1344676 2013-06-04 07:49:00 Yes I do.

I use Sygic GPS on my Samsung Galaxy S2 phone. The app and the corresponding map data are stored on the microSD card, so storage is not a problem.

The map of New Zealand is about 50MB from memory.

1344677 2013-06-04 08:13:00 I can see the color of cars, trees etc You sure 50MB satellite map? I used a 3rd party app to pull the google sat images just 1/2 of greater wellington was 1000MB . But they do use multi level of tiles when you zoom in and out .
