| 1344590 | 2013-06-03 12:18:00 | recently created a huge problem for myself by inserting the wrong screws into the wrong hole and upon attempting to remove them the screw/screwdriver interface balled out and now no grip can be achieved. maybe with the right screw driver and some leverage some progress can be made. the width of the screws was correct, the head was slightly too wide of one of the insertion points however the main issue is that the length was too great and has redered teh dvd drive UNOPENABLE. have a great day. hopefully i am able to work through my problem |

| 1344591 | 2013-06-03 13:37:00 | If you've stripped the screw head the only way to do it would be to tap the screw out, that is, drill a hole through it, and use a tapping screw to twist it out. Perhaps someone has a better idea, that technique isn't available to most people. |

| 1344594 | 2013-06-03 20:36:00 | If there is enough head sticking out; it maybe a needle-nosed pliers job Or you could possibly get a hacksaw and carefully cut a slot in the top of the screw - and use a flat head screwdriver to get it out. Other than that... possibly a piece of paper over the screwdriver head might pad it sufficiently to get the screw out. |

| 1344595 | 2013-06-03 20:52:00 | Must have been using a munted screwdriver of the wrong size in the first place, given this is a screw through thin plate steel which was pre-threaded. I'm very confident that some care with a new, appropriate driver will see the screws out easily. If you can't get enough of a grip on the shaft of a smaller screwdriver, then use pliers to grip and turn the screwdriver. But remember to keep very firm pressure down into the head of the screw the whole time. |

And I second the thought that you must be using the wrong screwdriver, a common mistake is to see a small phillips screw and assume it's the small size screwdriver when in fact it's a standard size one (no. 2 I think) that might look too big but fits perfectly. The smaller size is actually pretty uncommon and used on very small screws. Another common issue is people who can't tell the difference between phillips head and pozidrive screws, they tend to strip out each others screw heads because the angle is different. | dugimodo (138) | ||
