1344503 2013-06-02 02:50:00 Hi all,

Need some help sorting out a MIG that I purchased recently off trademe. The machine itself seems happy as but has obviously not been used in a while. I pulled the liner out today because the wire was not feeding through it nicely but now it looks like the only option to sort this is a new lead/torch. Also need a new regulator.

This is my first time setting up with gas, have used has plenty but it has always been ready to go.

Anyone got some knowledge to throw at me as far as most cost effective but value for money parts? Had a look on trademe and stuff is cheap enough but not sure what rated regulator I need. Does it vary for bottle size? Using co2

1344504 2013-06-02 03:09:00 Have a Mig but not the same make as yours but they are mostly the same(Weldwell 230)

Are you using the correct size wire for the drive ?,the drive roller if like mine is grooved for 2 sizes

The regulator you can get at BOC as mine is a BOC 6000 (for co2) for a flow of 45 litres/min

Another thing, the previous owner may have used Gas-less and the wire will not be suitable(check)

1344505 2013-06-02 04:26:00 The wire is correct size. Using .8mm and the roller looks to be the right way around. Wire is copper, used to use fluxcore on my old welder so know the difference. When I got welder the coil had quite a lot of rust on the out layers, I have removed all that so now it's nice and shiny but I think there could be rusty buildup in the liner.

Does the regulator flow matter for bottle size? My bottle is only small but will see how long it lasts before going and buying a bigger one. Not paying BOC lease fees if I don't have to!

1344506 2013-06-02 05:07:00 Probably pay to change the liner as it wears out,I think the liner is about $40/50 but this is dependent on the Torch used

I have 2 Bottles a 4.5kg and 11.5 kg, the regulator on mine is set to 8 litre's a min(bottle size does not matter

Don't know where you are but Tauranga/Hamilton has a crowd called Gas Pro and fill owner bottles, other places will have something similar though BOC have been growing and taking over other firms

1344507 2013-06-02 05:17:00 $40 to $50 for a liner seems a bit steep considering you can get a new torch and lead for $120. My bottle is a 4.5kg and I will use your 8l/m and see how I go.

I am in Chch, use a company called c test. Getting CO2 fills is pretty easy though.
