1344665 2013-06-07 05:46:00 I had to do Maori class at school from year 1-8. I can't really remember anything. It was a total waste of time.
I can remember my shout of rejoice as I heard the announcement that Maori class was optional after year 8.
Before year 8, it was dark times.

Why are we even talking about this?

Because we have to pay for the recalcitrant lot to take advantage of us forever more.

i rejected learning maori in kindergarten and primary school due to inadequate explanation of meanings.

1344668 2013-06-07 13:28:00 Go to a proper course mate, you're not going to get anywhere with us. We'll either laugh in your face or take the piss. Reason being, not many of us care. Not because we dislike Maori and the associated culture (speaking for myself not the forum :D ) but because us trying to explain to you (and vice versa) the eloquence of the Maori language is going to go absolutely nowhere.

It's quite clear no one here is interested, so for the sake of the forum as a whole, and for your own benefit, so that you may learn wholesomely, take the discussion elsewhere and go on a course. It's not about telling you to shove off, it's about helping you get the info you want. None of us speak or know much Maori so getting professional help if your best bet. Otherwise we're just wasting time.

I genuinely wish you all the best on the cultural quest and perhaps one day you'll succeed on your ambitions. But for the mean time, let the argument of culture lie fallow on PF1 :)
