1344814 2013-06-05 08:14:00 I prefer Windows 7. I don't like being stuck in the past too long :p
But Windows XP was great while I had it :)

1344815 2013-06-05 08:18:00 We get the OS with the hardware so we've moved onto Windows 7 / Starter. We don't really use old equipment, takes up unnecessary space. We have 2 spare XP boxes but the (1) CRT monitor went kapuf so not even being used a web box. Nomad (952)

1344817 2013-06-05 09:40:00 XP user here. Will be until change is forced upon me. Husband has Windows7 not sure about the laptop, I think that's XP as well.

Had an SOS from a US friend who's laptop had crashed, he wasn't happy with his new Windows8 and was asking my advice:illogical

1344818 2013-06-05 11:20:00 My main desktop at home is Win 7, media server is Win 7, main laptop is Mac, netbook is xp, brothers pc is xp, parents pc and laptop is xp, and I have a sizable collection of pcs downstairs that are xp.
Hmm speaking of downstairs I should get a picture of it.

Dare I ask what Tiny 7 is?

1344821 2013-06-05 11:48:00 windows 7 tiny/lite are custom modifications of windows 7. similar results can be achieved using tools like nlite

can be activated using a product key you likely already have.

in short, its what NT6 should have been.

would be nice to see it as windows NT6 basic and all the extra features in a pro/ultimate version

as is it even starter edition has tonnes of bloat.

puppy linux uses 50MB of ram on boot, windows 7 tiny will use 200-240MB and slowly drop to 150MB as it pages out.

in a virtual machine with 384MB ram no complaints were encountered during install and upon loading FTL memory usage was maxed out and after quitting windows was using 90 odd MB

probably a legally grey option but its windows 7 and if you already have a superior version it seems legit; these modifications can be done yourself.

1344822 2013-06-05 20:34:00 Pretty sure its illegal just as making an XP version was too gary67 (56)
1344823 2013-06-05 21:12:00 And if your computer has less than 512MB RAM, it's time to upgrade anyway. pcuser42 (130)
