1364860	2014-01-10 21:41:00	My grand-daughter has a PC running Vista. It has an 80G and 30G IDE drives. The 80G is almost full and there is nothing on the 30G. I would like to move her Sims folders C: to D:. Is this possible just to copy or drag and drop? I would obviously need to create short-cuts on the C: Desktop but just by dragging to D:, would everything still work?	Bryan (147)
1364861	2014-01-10 22:28:00	It won't work with just moving the folders manually, you would have to uninstall and re-install on to the D:. Most likely there will be stuff in the registry, and other config files, that will be pointing to the current folders on the C:. Moving the folders manually won't update any of that.	CYaBro (73)
1364862	2014-01-10 23:01:00	The easiest way to fix this would be to clone the 80Gb drive to a bigger drive. You could have difficulty buying a IDE drive though, getting rare.	feersumendjinn (64)

1364864	2014-01-11 04:40:00	Have you thought about moving the "Document", "Pictures" and "Video" folders to the D drive to free up space? It can be done seamlessly by right clicking on the folder, select Properties and then click the Location tab. Just put in the new location (use find target) and click Apply. The folders still appear in the menus and shortcuts etc, but they are physically on a different drive.	Jen (38)
1364865	2014-01-12 20:24:00	Once a HD gets nearly full, you really need move or delete A LOT OF STUFF :-) Just moving the sims folder may not achieve all that much. Have a look at what is taking up all that space....movies, photos, music etc etc As Jen suggested, moving Documents etc may be the way to go. Just make sure the 30G drive is big enough, it may not be if the 80G is full.	1101 (13337)
1364866	2014-01-12 20:32:00	Thank you all for the suggestions. I have arranged for a 180G HDD and will clone her present setup to that. For a while that should be more than sufficient. By the time she needs more room she will need a newer and better PC. Who knows what any of us will need in say 10 years time, it probably will be all so much more different!	Bryan (147)
