248171 2004-06-28 07:52:00 I have been receiving a few emails from people that I have never emailed telling me that I have sent them an infected attachment.

This is the email message I have received.

****************************************
Subject:Virus Found in message "*****SPAM***** Numbers
****************************************

Symantec AntiVirus found a virus in an attachment you (*my email here* <my email here>) sent to *Recipiants Name Here*.

To ensure the recipient(s) are able to use the files you sent, perform a virus scan on your computer, clean any infected files, then resend this attachment.

Attachment: pin_tel.pif
Virus name: W32.Netsky.AB@mm
Action taken: Clean failed : Quarantine succeeded :
File status: Infected

**********************************************

Now I have no idea who this person is and to make it even more weird, my email account in question here is web-mail only, I do not use outlook or any other mail program.

Over the last few weeks I have recieved a number of return emails from people who's email address look legit.

I'm pretty sure I'm not sending anybody these emails so could someone be sending emails to these people and making it look like they are from me?

Or is this just clever spam??

P.S. I Run PC-illin and update the virus definitions weekly.

Thanks.

Perhaps if you read the link I posted, you would realise that it is the very same (ex) "sticky post" ...

This problem is not going to go away anytime soon.
