| 248079 | 2004-06-27 23:51:00 | I want to create a rule in Outlook that sends any mail from people NOT in my personal contacts list to a junk folder, for later editing and deleting. The problem seems to be that I cannot find a simple way of redirecting a negative (ie NOT in Contacts). I have tried adding all my contacts to the people or distribtion list field, but it will only take the first 165. My contacts list is too large for my mail server to handle by including all those I will accept mail from. Also, I do not want to have to ammend the rule every time I add a contact, which I do every day or so. Thoughts? |

Previous versions might be slightly different, but by the sounds of things you know your way around the rules settings enough to be able to work it out. 1. Tools > Rules & Alerts. 2. Click "New Rule..." 3. Click "Start from a blank rule", in step 1 select "Check messages when they arrive", click Next. 4. Make sure that all options are unticked, click Next, click Yes. 5. Tick "Move to specified folder", select the folder you want junk emails to be moved to, click Next. 6. Under "Are there any exceptions", scroll to the bottom of the list and tick "except if sender is in specified address book", specify your address book, click Next. 7. Finish setting up the rule by naming it and applying it to the inbox if necessary. Hopefully that does the trick. Mike. |
