248038 2004-06-27 20:39:00 Welcome to PF1 Gabby

Have you set your TV to AV? The S-Video inputs are not active while the normal channels are operating.

There should be a button on the TV remote for this.

Cheers

248039 2004-06-27 21:00:00 S - Video cable is normaly multi pin black - sounds more like you have BNC composite audio/video cables.

248040 2004-06-27 21:16:00 I bought one of those supposedly s-video to composite cables last year - never got them to work at all.
Couldn't understand why it had 2 composite plugs when if you are going to convert it from s-video to composite you are only going to get a picture out of it, and no sound...

In the end someone with an Asus laptop that actually came with an s-video cable to single composite out (?) in the box, plugged it in and instant picture (with TV set to AV of course).

248041 2004-06-27 22:29:00 Yes, I'm with falvrez. I have seen ( & tried) those s-video to 3xRCA cables and never got it to work. I too cannot understand why they have the 2 extra rca connectors (white & red) when s-video is only for the pciture and not sound!
See if you can get an s-video to 1 rca (yellow) adaptor and try that.
And if you want sound too get a 3 & 1/2 mm stereo plug (to plug into headphone/speaker out) to 2 rca (red & white) cable.

248042 2004-06-27 22:47:00 There are "s-video type" plug to RCA cables.

There are s-video to RCA converter cables.

There is a difference.

Some cables assume that the RCA signals are carried on the extra pins on some of the PC end video sockets, and some cables do a conversion using resistor summation of the actual s-video signals to produce an RCA type composite signal (almost).

So it depends what signals you supply to the cable and what type of cable you have.
