247994 2004-06-27 11:05:00 How do I get Firefox to automagically open a new web page in a new tab? At the moment all I can do is create a new tab and then go to the new site - which seems a bit awkward.

247996 2004-06-27 11:24:00 Hold down the CTRL key when you click on a link. Firebird used to have TabBrowser extensions which allowed a link to open in a new tab in the background but there does not appear to be a similar extension for the latest version of Firefox. tommy (2826)
247997 2004-06-27 11:30:00 you can also right click on a link and select "open link in new tab" beama (111)
247998 2004-06-27 12:14:00 Middle Click!

That's the single greatest thing about FireFox.

248000 2004-06-27 12:18:00 I think the setup is similar to Netscape/Mozilla. if so, go:

Edit/Preferences/Navigator/Tabbed Browsing/select under Open Tabs Instead of Windows/Middle Click or Control Click

248001 2004-06-27 20:51:00 Thanks everyonr for the info. "Middle button" - is that the scroll wheel? If so I have that set up as double-click, and that is what it does. The other suggestions work OK though.

248002 2004-06-27 22:09:00 If you are trying to open a group of tabs is there any cure for timeouts?
Do you have to establish dialup link before opening FF?

I used to have that setup as well, I think you need to have the middle button set to autoscroll for it to work.

I switched it to this from double-click a few months ago, took a bit of getting used to but it was worth it for browsing convenience.
