| 247945 | 2004-06-27 09:15:00 | I run WinXP with IE6.0.28, and Zone Alarm 4.5. Since I upgraded to IE6, I have had problems browsing via hyperlinks. Some of the links lead me to www.ntsearch.com/iresults.php?qq=xxx (where xxx is the hyperlink). All web pages I view seem to load up with an excessive number of these links (leading to nowhere). I also experience JavaScript errors, although I've diligently tried to duplicate the same security etc settings as the other users on my PC (who have no such problems). Does IE have different settings for each account logon..?? I've also changed all the security setting to default, but have stopped short at this stage, of re-installing IE6. I also run Norton SW 2004, and although adware has been detected, Nortons cannot remove them. |

I don't think Nortons gets rid of spyware. Hopefully someone else may be able to help more, but to my mind, that is a good start. Good luck | supergran (108) | ||
| 247947 | 2004-06-27 10:50:00 | Yes, you're right, it is the adware. I think I may have fixed it - I deleted a file sp.exe that Nortons picked up in the C: root, and that seems to have fixed the problem... You're also right, Nortons won't kill it (or quarantine it either...!!). I'll take your advice and get Adaware, and clean up the rest of the gunk that these damn websites keep loading up (it's like gum on the bottom of your shoe, isn't it?). Many thanks for your help... :-) |

| 247948 | 2004-06-27 10:55:00 | I use both adaware and spybot, cos I have found that neither program finds all the bugs. Glad you got it sussed. I also run Zone Alarm free firewall too now, and have found it does limit some bugs. LOL | supergran (108) | ||

Some more advice for you - try upgrading to Opera (www.opera.com) instead of Internet Explorer and that will solve even more of your problems. ;-) |
