Just possible the boot is looking for a LAN that is not there. Just my thought. |

| 248390 | 2004-06-29 12:38:00 | Often a delayed boot up like that can be Nortons software. Experienced it a number of times myself, such a dog of a thing :p | kiki (762) | ||

| 248392 | 2004-06-29 22:48:00 | These delays are usually caused by a network adapter trying to log on to a (non existant) network. | godfather (25) | ||

| 248395 | 2004-06-30 11:16:00 | Hi rdee, Have you got either Norton Antivirus or Norton Internet Security (or similar)? Have you recently run a "LiveUpdate" on it? I found that my computer booted in around 45 seconds, but then I ran a liveupdate and it took closer to 4-5 minutes to boot. I reformatted and reinstalled everything, and monitored exactly when it happened - right after a liveupdate... did a system restore back to before my last liveupdate, and it was back to normal. Seems to be one of the software updates (not the NIS or NAV definitions), so I've left it running without the latest update, but with all the latest definitions, and everything appears to be running fine. Mike. |
