| 248948 | 2004-07-01 09:26:00 | Can anyone tell me what problems I may encounter by installing and running those ops on my XP system, compaq 2 . 4 gig speed? 256 ram, warehouse stationary model . Is there anything special I have to do to make them work etc . I have never tried running anything but IE and with the bugs now, I thought it might be time I tried running something different . I run Zone Alarm, Nortons 2003, and MSN messenger, and yahoo messenger, when online . TIA |

IE & OE might get a bit grumpy about not being the defaults but you can tell them to shut up. The main difference you will find is the setup and where to find options/preferences and slightly their different wording for common tasks, etc. You have the versions with windows installers? Just fire ahead then come back if you have any questions. There's also a wealth of info at the Mozilla.org website, might pay to printout the setup info before hand otherwise, have fun. Both IE and Firefox (as well as OE and Thunderbird) will live quite happily side by side on the same machine. If you have any problems installing it (or using it) just shout out. :) |

| 248952 | 2004-07-06 09:21:00 | OK, am posting this using Firefox 08 cause that was on disc, and have downloaded 09 version, but haven't changed yet . So far so good . LOL Haven't installed Thunderbird, but haven't checked mail yet either . Now for questions!! Does my nortons and zone alarm work effectively with these programs? How do I install the flash and shockwave programs that come on cd with mozilla? Is it just a case of clicking install as I would in IE and letting them install where they like, or can I put them where I want? Sorry to be such a dummy, but never really tried playing with anything like this before . :p |

Norton is not affected by Firefox and will carry on working as per normal . >How do I install the flash and shockwave programs If you don't already have these installed, just install them as per normal and Firefox will detect and use the plugins automatically . >Sorry to be such a dummy, but never really tried playing with anything like this before . You are not being a dummy at all :) - enjoy your play with Firefox, I am sure you will really like it :D |

| 248955 | 2004-07-06 11:21:00 | Someone (Stu?) was asking the other day how to make links open in another tab rather than in another Firefox window and I told him that Firebird used to have Tab Browser extensions that took care of that . Thought I would just mention here that if you download the "Single Window" extension for Firefox you will get links opening in tabs once again . Very handy . :-) |

Just to add to that, it took me nearly 10mins to find that extension because that page lacks a search function! :p Single Window ( . mozilla . org/extensions/moreinfo . php?id=50&vid=53&category=" target="_blank">update . mozilla . org) |
