| 249104 | 2004-07-03 06:19:00 | I just had a look at our cordless,its a uniden... If i thought Mrs Metla wouldn't notice i would take it out to the shed and give it a tune up with my claw hammer. |

| 249105 | 2004-07-03 06:24:00 | I recently bought DSE's own brand model, with answerphone. Works OK till the next powercut when all settings go down the drain due to no battery back-up. I can't believe I never thought to check that out. | Rosie1 (3743) | ||
| 249106 | 2004-07-03 06:27:00 | I can't believe anyone would buy a Dick smith rebranded anything. | metla (154) | ||
| 249107 | 2004-07-03 07:03:00 | Why? Do you know who DSE use to manufacture thier products and rebrand them? DSE products are all under warrantee and they are exceptionally good at refunding/replacing faulty product. I wouldn't hesitate to purchase a DSE product (and use the savings to either treat myself, or get something else I have wanted.) Are you just being a "brand" snob? |

| 249108 | 2004-07-03 07:46:00 | a brand snob? If buying brands i can actually identify then hell yes. DSE products are all sourced from different cutprice manufactuers and rebranded,who knows what they are,where or when they were produced,and fatchance of doing any research on your item. I would buy an Asus or lite-on anyday rather then purchase a cyber-drive for 4 dollars less in order to reward myself with an icecream on the way home. There is no doubt dse have an excellent return policy,but i would take quality products with a warrenty any day. Nor do i believe in purchasing anything from 2-bit career salesmen. |

I bought a Wireless Desktop Keyboard and Mouse from them two days ago. Installed well and both keyboard and mouse worked. Computer on 24/7. I went to bed about 11:30 pm and woke up to find keyboard was not working. Mouse worked as expected. Hmmmm. Took the whole deal back and got replacement. Both work now! My point is that Dick Smiths policy of replacement is fine by me. No questions asked. To try and keep this on topic we bought a Panasonic cordless phone using Flybuys from Noel Leemings about two years ago. Still works here. We are on the NZ type 1/4 acre section and can use it as far as I can get from the house and still stay on our section. Retail price was about $130 at the time but the phone just cost us Flybuys points. I know that there are newer cordless phones on the market and they may well be better than what I have. We are not planning on replacing real soon now. |

Bought from DSE a boxed "Microsoft" Wireless Desktop keyboard and mouse. Branded "Microsoft" Came with "Intellitype and Intellipoint 5" software. > DSE products are all sourced from different cutprice > manufactuers and rebranded,who knows what they > are,where or when they were produced,and fatchance of > doing any research on your item. You can go to the "Dick Smith" web site and download drivers for most things you bought. I have a PCI TV card bought from Dick Smiths a while back and drivers are available on the Web site for WinXP even today. > I would buy an Asus or lite-on anyday rather then > purchase a cyber-drive for 4 dollars less in order to > reward myself with an icecream on the way home. $4.00 less? Why worry. > There is no doubt dse have an excellent return > policy,but i would take quality products with a > warrenty any day. Yes. Quality products with warranty is the way to go. > > > Nor do i believe in purchasing anything from 2-bit > career salesmen. I guess you will buy something from a 64-bit career sales-person then? |

| 249111 | 2004-07-04 00:12:00 | We have two Uniden cordless phones, one upstairs and one downstairs. Both have worked fine for many years. The one downstairs is a few years older than the one upstairs, the latter having digital voicemail (which is light years better than the old tape type !). :) :D The one thing that I really do not like about Uniden is that the number of rings you can set the ones on we have bought is too few. It means that we often run for the phone and then find that it has gone to voicemail. One of two things happen - the person at the other end may not want to leave a voicemail message and no contact made , or alternatively you end up talking with the person while competing with your voicemail message ! :( Misty |

| 249113 | 2004-07-04 00:22:00 | What's the difference between a good phone and a bad one? If it works it's good. If it doesn't it must be bad. I got a Panasonic from Boise for about $80. It works. No difference with my computer and It works upstairs while I'm in the bath. So if must be a good one. Jack |
