2004-07-01 10:16:00 | i have heard of a few pc's which get crash happy when they get to cold (temps in the negatives). otherwise the biggest danger is condenstion. use a dehumidafier and it should be fine. | tweak'e (174) | |
2004-07-01 10:30:00 | and humidity causes problems too - usual limit is 90-95%, so watch that laptop in the Islands (or Auckland & Northland) - although I suspect humidity sounds good if you are freezing your **** off in -3 :) | andrew93 (249) | |
2004-07-01 10:52:00 | high humidity and cold temps = condenstion. > although I suspect humidity sounds good if you are freezing your **** off in -3 actually it worse. dry but cold is far nicer than wet and mildly cold. i'm sure all northlanders will agree ;-)

When you have been on the receiving end of dodgy working conditions it tends to change your opinion. |

2004-07-02 04:38:00 | Excellent, another good data gathering night in Blenheim. I investigate frost patterns over vineyards and orchards so cold, clear nights are all good for me. :D | Sb0h (3744) | |
2004-07-02 04:51:00 | Hi SbOh , do you take a laptop out with you on your investigations ..? Or is the data collected at the various sites "automatically" by some piece of recording hardware ? | KatiMike (242) | |
2004-07-02 05:19:00 | Hi KatiMike, Data is collected via temp data loggers and hobo weather stations placed out onsite and downloaded once we have enough data for analysis, typically 4-6 good clear nights. So the laptop is only in the field when launching the weather stations.
