249611 2004-07-03 11:21:00 I've got an old machine running WinME and when turning it on, the Windows logon window asks for username and password. Apparently, username and password are not available. Have to click 'Cancel' to complete the boot process.

Is there a way to stop this annoying Window asking for username and password?

Cheers

249612 2004-07-03 11:28:00 Use 'windows help' cos we had that problem on a friends machine, using Me, and I can't remember how we got rid of it, but I know I found the solution in Windows help that was on her puter. supergran (108)
249613 2004-07-04 00:00:00 I have the same problem and am still looking for the answer. It is a minor annoyance but I hope someone can save me a long search through help files by coming up with the answer. IanS (924)
249614 2004-07-04 00:05:00 if its the windows logon (and not the network logon) then simply find the password file (.pwl) by searching *.pwl and then delete/rename it. restart and windows will ask for a password, don't enter one just hit ok and you won't be asked again. note this will remove any saved dailup password. tweak'e (174)
249615 2004-07-04 00:16:00 and if your problem remains then download TweakUi and set it to logon automatically drcspy (146)
249616 2004-07-04 00:35:00 tweakUI does the network logon. tweak'e (174)
