| 249423 | 2004-07-03 07:04:00 | Further to my dramas with getting my network going, now I'm having issues with certain websites. 2 PCs - both running Win2000 Pro. Host PC connects to the internet via Woosh Wireless - no problems there and I can access anything on the internet including MS sites, MSN messenger, Hotmail etc using the host. Client PC accesses the host and there are no problems there - I can access shared resources on the host, and most, but not all, websites. However, using the client PC, I can't get through to any Microsoft sites, can't access MSN Messenger or ICQ. (Interestingly enough, when I first got the network up and running I could access ICQ, but now I can't = something must have changed). Have done some searching including the MSN Help service which talks about running MSN Messenger with NATS, and opening ports and configuring proxy servers etc etc but I'm hopelessly confused. Any help greatly appreciated. |

| 249425 | 2004-07-03 13:11:00 | Oops, ok, sorry - this is the layout. Host PC connected to Woosh via wireless modem. Client PC has a Belkin F5D6050 wireless adapter and talks to a Dick Smith Wi-LAN card on the host (both are 802.11b). Both PCs talk to each other without a problem on the network. Host PC is running ICS. I have no idea about setting up a proxy, although I have read that Win2000 in ICS mode is translating rather than being a true router and that there could be issues as a result. I feel this is probably where the problem lies but don't know enough where to start. |
