| 249206 | 2004-07-02 10:04:00 | img19.exs.cx its looks like this, it doesn't stop keep comming up. i think that it is a boogus virus and its main reason is to make infinite of these windows come up. I keep clicking ok, then another comes up. I hold down enter or 'o' and it keeps making about 20 per second go away, yet they keep appearing, each one with a slightly higher number. I run windows XP and the latest norton antivirus. can anyone help? has anyone else seen this? |

You probably received it by downloading music files. Symantec information here (securityresponse.symantec.com) If you used Linux or a Mac you would not have these problems. |

As you are running Win XP you cannot get rid of it . Just avoid using IE except for when absolutely essential, eg for Windows updates . If you are like me and have other people using your computer you can remove the IE shortcut icons to force them to use the alternative browser installed but can still run IE yourself when necessary by going to Start > Run and typing: iexplore . exe More experienced computer users will not be fooled by this tactic, however, but if they are that knowledgeable they would know better than to use IE . I use and recommend Opera with Firefox as a close second choice . Don't forget to consider an alternative email client as well . Thunderbird, Eudora and Mozilla (integrated with the Mozilla browser) are all good choices . :-) |
