2004-07-05 08:45:00 | Not on the CD? Really? Directory of D:\Office\WMS\WinNT . <DIR> .. <DIR> CMC DLL MAPI DLL MAPI32 DLL MAPISRVR EXE MDISP32 EXE MDISP32 TLB MSPST32 DLL NEWPROF EXE SCANPST EXE SCANPST HLP WMSSET32 DLL The error can be due to several reasons, including incompatable CD Drive, dirty CD, etc. These appear to be covered on Google. The program should run fine on XP.

2004-07-05 09:45:00 | Thanks GF - My CD does not have the first 3 or MSPST32 DLL and WMSSET32 DLL. Have tried on 3 CD readers on 2 computers. Has always installed OK on this one running W98se, but doesn't on one I'm setting up with Win XP - thinking of putting on Open Office instead. Bye

2004-07-05 10:53:00 | There is something amiss with your copy of Office 97? I have checked mine, and also checked on the correct contents from the web. Both agree with what was posted, and I run Office 97 on one PC here under XP

2004-07-05 20:56:00 | I've had situations where the Office 97 CD complains about missing files (mostly pictures, I think) and I click ignore and it is fine. Can you try that? robo.

2004-07-05 21:56:00 | Thanks for your replys - both the win95 and winnt folders are missing 5 files - odd it works fine with both W95 & W98se. Only thought that I have, is to copy it to the HD and try finding the missing files on the net, and add them to that folder. Would this work? Robo - no option to ignore. Bye

2004-07-06 01:53:00 | Hi Peter, I'm on WinXP and have installed Word only from the MS office 97 . It installed with no problem at all . Have you tried just installing one program at a time, eg . just install Word first, then do the others . That way you might be able to see if its one particular part of Office that is playing up . But good luck anyway Marg
