249848 2004-07-05 01:42:00 Hi,
Can somebody tell me how to stop the echo in transmitting voice by msn please?
I have experienced this while talking to a local ( Hamilton) friend and he, vice versa-- now I was voice talking to the U K yesterday and accepting the time delay because of the distance- how can I stop hearing my voice again as at the moment U K received it
Also U K voice was breaking up badly whereas my local call does not do that
I have disabled my firewall (Zonealarm)as mandatory for voice and U K did also- we got a bit of voice conversation ok, along with his accent so it was clear enough but----?
In theory as at local usuage it should be clear

249849 2004-07-05 02:48:00 Its called feedback..Assuming you're both using Speakers..

The speakers get your voice and they are quite loud and then the microfone picks it up on the UK side and then sends it back so you hear your voice again. (this works vice versa)

249852 2004-07-05 04:23:00 The break-up is simply due to slow internet speed and gaps in the data stream.

The data is subject to servers passing it on all around the world, and if the one that is routing your data gets busy, there is a short gap in the data stream. Then that causes a break in the audio.

Nothing you can do about it, its not under your control or influence.

249853 2006-03-10 03:47:00 There is another way to get the echo in Messenger - even if both parties are listening through headsets!

Under volume controls, recording options, if the recording input is on mono or stereo mix, everything will work except there will be echo. If the input is selected as mic input, then everything will work except there won't be any echo - if both parties use headsets.

With the recording input set to stereo mix, for example, the PC picks the mic AND the sound being played (i.e. the other persons sound signal) and sends them both on your outgoing audio channel. This pics up your mic, adds the other persons audio signal, and loops the sum back to them - enabling the sound to go around and around.

This loop is entirely within the PC. You could bury your speakers under 20 feet of concrete and it would still loop back within the PC. Arrrgh!

249854 2006-03-10 05:19:00 and.........errrrrrrr..... I have disabled my firewall (Zonealarm)as mandatory for voice and U K did also

BAD idea.............you are now vulnerable for all sorts of bad happenings.......zonealarm does NOT block voice you just need to give messenger server rights in the permissions on zone.........DONT disable your firewall unless you WANT viruses etc......
