| 249834 | 2004-07-04 22:02:00 | can i use tht - SOT - Sorta off topic? owell, i did. Anyway, i'm thinkng of moving my pc into another room. I use this pc for the internet (dial up) The thing is, i don't have a phone line outlet in there, and the nearest one is through 2 other rooms - so i don't really wanna do that. The room makes up one corner of our house, and i was thinking "simple, just get someonein to install one" but i doubt if there willbe a line in the wall anywhere near it. So how would they do it? And (roughly) how much? I thought i could also make a hole by the pc, and run the cable under the house, and come up where there is a phone socket - but then i looked at the plug, it'd have to be a pretty big hole! So are there any electricians here? (would you need an electrican - or who else?) that could give me some advice. Thanks Or i thou |

Those cables are often injurious to modem use when they are long, they are not designed for that use . There are phone installers everywhere - use the yellow pages to find one . If there is access under the house it shouldn't be too bad, if you wanted to DIY then kits are available at all hardware and warehouse stores, with a wall socket, proper cabling and the special tool required (plus instructions) |
