| 249704 | 2004-07-04 06:16:00 | I have no viruses, trojans etc. Everything is slow to load. Is there method to speed it up again. I am operating Windows 98 SE. GenuineIntel x 86 Family 6 Model 8 Stepping 1 128 0MB Ram 60%free File system 32 bit. Virtual memory 32 bit. Disk compression not installed. I have 17 progammes running on startup. Thanks |

| 249707 | 2004-07-04 06:31:00 | As Jams said, get rid of everything in Startup except for your anti-virus and firewall and the essential Windows loadups. It is best to go into the programs' Options to disable loading at startup and for those who don't give any options disable them in msconfig. Deleting all the temporary files, including temp. internet files would be my next move, then the index.dat files. Pop into the FAQ section (link top right of this page) and run through the Maintenance FAQ for more specific instructions. The FAQs take a while to load so be patient. |
