249599 2004-07-03 22:50:00 as to follow on from the last beetle saga, now the printer that had too much ink ...... then prints lightly will not print off the calista bookin prog when booking people out, so they get no invoice.

it does a test page fine.
it also reads that it is ready to print.
but the message does not get from calista, to printer, am i missing something?
it goes to configure ? to print and does not come up with print box at all.

running XP, with Calista, and a Epson stylus CU41x ? printer... ? numbers could be wrong on that.

hammer time for this machine soon.

249600 2004-07-04 00:37:00 Can you print from other programs beetle? If not, it may indeed be your printer, but it is more likely to be the printer set up in Calista, or the printer not selected in your computer.

Check the basics before you blame the printer.

PS Came across this the other day while dictionary surfing
and thought it might amuse you: :D

beetle: a tool with a heavy head and handle, used for
ramming, crushing, driving wedges etc.

To beetle: to beat with a heavy wooden mallet as a
substitute for mangling.
Could this explain your techno-tribulations perhaps.

Maybe your computer and printer are fearful? Would a name change help? I am just joking of course beetle, and no offence is intended.

249601 2004-07-04 02:43:00 the other progs seem to work fine, i can print off a test page.

but the callista prog wont print, i looked at all obvious places ...well i think so anyway. i havent touched it and its been printing fine up till now, except for the too much ink bit, and lightness of print last time, and now just wont for calista, any ideas where or what type of settings i may be looking for?

not sure what else to do now.

and to the name thing...

suits me just fine then huh......
im good at mangling things.
:D

249602 2004-07-04 02:49:00 When you click print, do you get a "print setup" option beetle?

Have you looked in the Calista help files or other documentation for printer setup advice? Can you phone another user who might have experience with the program?

Windows programs usually conform to some sort of standard and there should be a menu item for printer setup somewhere. It may have just dropped your printer for some reason.

Keep trying.

249603 2004-07-04 02:53:00 if you dont get the print set up,press ctrl+P to bring it up,then make sure the correct printer is chosen and it is not set to print to file.

Failing that you can go into the advanced properties and disable print spooling,or alternativly enable direct printing

249607 2004-07-06 08:06:00 Further to this prob,
printing has stopped again this morn.

the work comp crashed and has a corrupted file (data?) on callista causing it to hang, and while the phone tech was looking at it, it hung big time and got stuck ob desktop screen with no icons.

so he rebooted it. and found after paying for a new contract with callista we have phone support now...and $$$$ later had to reinstall the calista prog, and now can print ...with lines.
we discussed and am shopping for a new multifunction fax, scanner, printer tomorow.

so it dont rain but it pours...

not one but all comps doing the dirty on us.

at least it is fixed.

:(
